Sympatico dry loop question
(too old to reply)

Hi,

I'm about to cancel my landline with Bell but I want to keep Sympatico
"high speed" service.

Anyone know how much time it takes them to convert my landline
connection to a dry loop one?

Thanks.

I'd be careful, as a recent thread (perhaps it was in DSLreports) had
a similar situation where Bell moved the customer off an Rslam and put
directly into the CO, where his speeds went down because his line
length went up.

Sounds like the guy is a frenchman. In which case sympatico will "frog"
him for sure. If you don't give them all of your money they throw you at
the bottom of the list in the "frog pond".

1) Don't ask a question on the weekend and expect to get an answer on
the weekend.

2) For technical stuff, particularly bell/sympatico, you're more
likely to get an answer on the sympatico forum on dslreports.com.

Who said I was expecting an answer on the weekend? I saw two replies
to my post and none contained anything relevent to my question so I
replied to that.

Of course, I'll look elsewhere now, obviously.

Some of the people who have replied should be ignored. They just pooh
pooh anything canadian.

In terms of your question, it is hard to say exactly how Bell will
react. It should not be a problem. Technically, they just need to enter
a few commands on the DMS voice switch to disable your voice service.
(Your pair remains physically attached to the DSLAM).

But Bell has acted irrationhally in the past. Hard to predict what they
will do to you. Make sure you tell them you already have sympatico
service and don't want to change this.

You might want to wikipeadia the word troll for some useful reading
before venturing into usenet again. There are helpful people here, you
just ran into the least is all.

Does it really matter? You'll find out when you get no dial tone on any of
your phones. Just keep on using your phones until they cut you off then
buy walkie talkies they've come way down in price.

Hi,

Anyone know how much time it takes them to convert my landline
connection to a dry loop one?
Thanks.
